Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, which opened in May 2025, is the second American installation of the Nintendo land and incorporates both the original World elements (Mario Kart, the coin-collection Power-Up Band system, Mushroom Kingdom theming) and a significant new addition: Donkey Kong Country, a separate area with its own aesthetic, attractions, and interactive systems. The Epic Universe location is also the new park — not an addition to Universal Orlando's existing parks, but a standalone third gate on a separately developed site adjacent to the existing Universal property.

The Donkey Kong Country expansion adds the Mine-Cart Madness family ride, themed to the classic SNES DKC games with visual fidelity that communicates genuine appreciation for the source material design. The land's aesthetic — the Kongs' treehouse environment, banana hoards, the general organic-versus-industrial conflict of the game design — is translated into physical space with the detail density that characterizes the Nintendo collaboration broadly. DK Hammers (the Donkey Kong equivalent of the Power-Up Band) allow interactive engagement with the land's elements in parallel with the Mario Kart portion's coin box system.

The broader Epic Universe context is significant: the park at launch contains four additional worlds alongside Super Nintendo World and Donkey Kong Country — The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, the Isle of Baba Yaga, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, and Universal Monsters. This means a full Epic Universe visit requires careful prioritization across multiple must-see areas, and doing it without ride reservation strategy will result in disappointment. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge (the ride, present in the Epic Universe version of the land) and the highest-demand Harry Potter attraction will have the longest queues; strategy for both is arrive-at-open or purchase Lightning Lanes.

Orlando's position as theme park capital means visiting Epic Universe involves coordinating it within a broader parks itinerary. Epic Universe tickets are separate from universal's existing parks (Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure) and require advance purchase through the Universal Orlando website. Multi-day and multi-park combination tickets are available and represent meaningful savings for visitors planning to cover multiple Universal properties. The surrounding International Drive area in Orlando has the full infrastructure of the American theme park tourism industry — dozens of hotels at every price point, shuttle connections to all parks, and the general density of theme park adjacent dining and retail that makes extended park-hopping stays logistically comfortable. For Nintendo-specific merchandise, the Super Nintendo World land has its own dedicated shops with Epic Universe-exclusive items alongside the standard Nintendo merchandise available at USJ and Hollywood. The opening of Epic Universe significantly changes the calculus of Orlando theme park visits and is likely to shift visit patterns across the whole market for the next several years.
